Continue reading »]]> For the past several years there has been a DCI (Drum Corps International) show in our area. Unfortunately, this year the closest show is in Atlanta. The good side to this is the show is a major regional event – meaning all Division 1 Drum Corps will be there! If you do not know about DCI, check out http://www/dci.org for information!

The cost of the ticket would be $20 (students and parents). We would have to charter a bus to the event. I can only estimate the cost to be around $20-$25 per person (it could go up or down). Reservations will only be taken until the bus is full. Food/Souvenirs for the day would be on your own.

I would need a commitment (ticket price only) from people wishing to go by Wednesday, May 30, 2012 so I can decide if this is something we wish to proceed with this year.

Continue reading »]]> All 1^st and 2^nd year marchers (all 1^st year auxiliary members) are required to attend rookie camp next week from 3:15-5:00 in the SHS Bandroom. Students need comfortable clothing and tennis shoes (no exceptions). RMS students will ride the SHS transfer bus from RMS to SHS. Students can bring money for the vending machines before rookie camp begins. Any absences, excused or unexcused, will require make-up rehearsal time.

Also, do not forget the mandatory parent meeting on Monday, May 21, 2012 at SHS. All rookie camp members will be provided pizza and drinks after rehearsal. All 1^st year parents (and any 2^nd year parents who wish to attend) will attend a rookie parent meeting at 6:00. The general meeting will take place at 7:00.

Each DVD (Marching Band – includes game footage, contest footage, and parade footage / Concert Band -includes Christmas Concert, MPA events, and Spring Concert) is $15.00. Checks should be made payable to Pride Music Association. DVDs will be delivered to students if completed before the end of the school year / or mailed if completed after the end of the school.

Students will travel by school bus from SHS to JSU.  We will leave SHS during 4^th block. RMS students will be transported to SHS by Mr. Haskew. Only the AP History students have permission to drive.

Make sure to pack all of the following items for the dorm:

• Sleeping Bag / Pillow
• Towel / Toiletries
• Khaki Shorts for Concert Saturday
• Instrument and accessories (including wire music stand)

Remember to practice your audition requirements – you will have set audition times that will be given out Thursday.

Once students are on campus they will not leave. Please bring money for dinner on Thursday evening (Strut’s in Jackosnville). All other meals are covered.

Parents must pick-up/check-out students at 10:00 on Saturday. The concert begins at 12:00.
